Blog Review
I came across this week’s little gem whilst wandering around spicy page; it was the name ‘my interesting files’ that grabbed me and I found myself muttering ‘interesting? Well, we’ll just see about that, won’t we’ under my breath in that skeptical manner born from looking at one too many ‘cutsy’ pictures and ‘funny’ stories about someone’s dog/cat/parrot/life (delete as applicable) already that day.
Did it live up to its name? It certainly did, or I wouldn’t be writing about it here.
My Interesting Files is where you will find all those pictures, stories and interesting little bits and bobs that do the email rounds, only better. They filter out the rubbish, the cutsey, the ‘pass this on to 10 people to save your soul’ and the ‘Bill Gates will give you a free computer if you send this email to everyone you know’ nonsense that clogs up your inbox and forces you to mass delete and miss out on the few interesting ones.
The content is great, I love knowing I can go somewhere and am guaranteed to be entertained with something new everyday, but I do have a few issues with the look of the site. It could just be me but I don’t feel that the content, which is mostly fun, interesting, upbeat entertainment or touching stories and photos, really gels well with the subdued, businessy vibe that the template gives off. It also fails under my two favourite whinges about sites, it doesn’t have a home button or clickable header and there is no older or next posts button at the bottom of the page.
However, content is king as they say, and even if the look doesn’t really work for me I have still fallen for this site and will be returning daily.
I can now mass delete without fear, for I will always be able to find the good ones here.
